It's only been 2 and half years - I was thinking of her this evening, put her name in the search engine, and voilà! She was a great teacher, and I still remember the proverbs that were placed around the classroom above the blackboards. I also remember seeing her early in the morning after mass. Sometimes she would share an anecdote of an eventful early-morning park stroll on her way to St. Dom's. I always enjoyed hearing her lead the morning prayer - in French, of course. She is fondly in my memory, class of 77.

I had Sister Solange as a French teacher for four years (1981-1985). She was a wonderful person. I remember once in her class - as it turned out, I was one of her star pupils - but this one day in particular, I was tired of conjugating verbs. I mentioned it to my friend in the next seat - specifically, I said it was "boring." Sister Solange saw that and she seemed personally hurt by it. I apologized to her after class.

Out of the blue last night, I had a dream that she died. Lo and behold, I do the search this morning and she died a month and a half ago. I wish her spirit well, although I'm sure she doesn't need my wishes - she is in Heaven right now with Jesus and Mary.

It seems that you were truly blessed to have Sister Solange as a mentor both as a person and as an educator. We all should strive to be more like her!
