More Video Game Play = Lower GPA
Teachers may actually be right after all - studying does in fact pay off.
In what is likely not considered to be a surprise to anyone, a recent report indicates that studying boosts grades. Really.
The same study also revealed that playing video games instead of of studying results in poorer grades at school. Huummm.
A father and son team conducted thier experiment at Berea College, a school that does not allow alcohol on campus. In addition, the college also mandates daily class attendance.
Seems those students who brought a gaming console with them to school spent on average one less hour studying than their peers. The result was a drop in GPA of 0.24 for males and 0.13 for females.
In addition, the study determined that one hour per day of studying was the equivalent to a mean GPA increase of 0.36.
