Murray and others offend the pandering politicians who without thinking things through say everyone should get a college education. While some fields would difficult to give a certification "diploma", let's say poety or something along those lines, " what is needed today are job skills, some on a higher order than some(maybe), yet as Murray has pointed out we need first rate electricians and plumbers as well as folks who go through a college program like philosophy and then debate the undebatable. Progressives/liberals buy this crap, yet those who see a dismal future realize that college education maybe only an indication that the person has the ability to absorb a great deal of facts, yet does not have the ability to think(way beyond critical thinking) or resist the usual way of thinking(I'm right and you're wrong). Folks like Edward deBono ought to be listened to more than some other "thinkers" on the left.

I am Jacquy Pfeiffer , of The French Pastry school in Chicago.
I grew up in France and Mr Murray describes a system that has been running successfully for decades in Europe.
The 2 year apprenticeship, with a certificate at the end, is a system where a person is trained in the field that he or she will use for the rest of their career.
They can then move on and go for a master degree and then a master craftsmen degree while still working in their field. This makes experts in their fields and elevates the quality of the products manufactured or created by them. At our school, our 6 month hands-on program trains people to learn techniques following the European model. It will make the students become real craftsmen in their fields. There are no unnecessary classes that will inflate the tuition and slow down the student with heavy debts.
